Teen Titans Dance Animation

Posted by Sykohyko - August 8th, 2018

This is a compilation of all the dances I've animated for the Teen Titans Go! tv show. It's also a reminder to go see the movie playing in theaters now. It's being called the funniest movie of the summer!

I saw it with the kids and we had a great time! Enjoyed the amount of darker humor in there, too.

I hadn't realized until recently that you did those dance animations, I love 'em!

haha nice. Glad you guys enjoyed it. Yeah I'm surprised some of that stuff wasn't cut lol
I also designed and animation the Lion King sequence in the movie. That was a lot of fun.

Those dance animations are real neat to look at, and I watched the movie last week and absolutely loved it!

Ooh I just noticed you replied to me both as a direct reply (as blog owner) and as an @ reply... Did you actually enter the same reply in two different ways, or did you reply once and it appeared both ways?

I wasn't sure if my first reply was directed at you, so i re-posted it as a @ reply and couldn't figure out how to delete my other one lol

Well, look at this. When this show actually gets good animation, it looks good. Well done.

Dude, no idea you did these animations! It's one of my favorite parts of the show!

@LiLg yup, I do the dance animation and within the show anytime the characters have that chibi-ish look. The hand drawn stuff.

Solid footwork, any dances based on a particular reference you personally enjoy?

@BrandyBulzel Every season we look up a bunch of dances and pick our favorites and then I go and animate them.

alright yup, that seals it. I'm gonna go see this movie. These look amazing and fun, there's so much fluidity and personality in the character animation!

@IvanAlmighty Woohoo!

@TomFulp which one is the correct way to respond?

@Sykohyko Good question lol... So when we first developed the blogs, we based them on the concept of the review system where the artist gets the last say; basically you make a post, people respond to your post and only you can reply directly to their reply - artist gets the last word.

A lot of the thought behind this came from NG having more hostile users back then and we wanted to avoid artists feeling harassed. We were so used to playing defense against the negative element that features were developed too defensively.

The blogs launched in 2007 and we added the feed around 2012, at which point you could @ a username in a blog thread and they would see it in their feed like a reply. We expanded on that with our more recent update, where you can now reply directly in-feed and it auto-generates the @ symbol (basically taking notes from Twitter).

We're at a point now where we could remove the "author reply box" and just have threaded sub-conversations happen under individual comments. This will require some re-engineering of the blog system though so for now we're stuck where we are... Unique blog-owner reply boxes mixed with @ replies for everyone else.

@TomFulp ok cool. It's wierd cause sometimes i hit reply and the @ username is automatically there, and sometimes it's not. I had to manually type in your @ username this time, but not last time.

@IvanAlmighty You're gonna really enjoy it

Awesome work dude, loved the movie. Lion King scene took me by total surprise

Had no idea you were involved with this. One of my favorite shows of all time and you help give it some of it's character. Awesome.
